Meet Vickie Daniel
BSBA with a concentration in Marketing
How can you balance a full-time job, starting a business and family responsibilities with getting a Bachelor's degreeespecially with a long commute to the nearest university? According to Vickie Daniel, the answer is Colorado Tech Online. "There are a lot of advantages to online learning when you have a demanding full-time job, meetings at night, and family responsibilities. It's not only convenient, it keeps my short and long term goals within reach."
Having taken courses at a traditional university, Vickie was at first a bit apprehensive about the quality of online learning. Her doubts were quickly put to rest after her first few class sessions at Colorado Tech Online. "Most of my instructors have careers in business in addition to teaching and they bring their experience to the classroom in very personal waysproviding guidance to students in discussion boards, emails, instant messaging and by personal comments on projects. I also get more constructive criticism from my classmates at Colorado Tech Online than I did from students in a traditional classroom setting."

Vickie was considering a financial planning certificate when she first contacted Colorado Tech Online. She soon realized "I can pay back a student loan for nothing, or I can pay it back for something" and decided to enroll in the Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration degree program with a concentration in Marketing. "In a few months I'll be getting my degree and I'm proud of myself. I'm happy and it's been such a good experience I'm going to continue into the Executive MBA Program at CTU Online." Having made both the Dean's and Chancellor's lists, Vickie has acquired the knowledge and the confidence at Colorado Tech Online to achieve her educational goals.
Vickie is currently an Operations Assistant at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where she is responsible for budgeting, billing, ordering and promoting for two departments. She feels the emphasis on project-based learning in her courses at Colorado Tech Online teach her valuable problem-solving skills that she uses in her career nearly every day. "I had a situation today where a customer was really upset with her bill and I was very pleased to be able to use what I learned in my customer service class to take control of the situation and resolve the issue." The practical scenarios Vickie works through in her courses are what she likes most about the university. "At Colorado Tech Online I am the Customer Service Manager, or the Project Manager, not just a student and I learn how to handle the same situations I will have to handle when I'm getting paid to do that. Learning how to solve the problems in those situations is realistic and very valuable."
The valuable career skills Vickie has acquired at Colorado Tech Online have already paid off when her manager asked, "If you could use your degree right now would you do it?" When Vickie answered with an emphatic "yes" she was informed that there may be a key career opportunity in the near future for an individual with marketing skills. "I can't say I have this promotion now, but I already have two highly regarded recommendations for it and if this contract is approved I will be eligible for this promotion when I get my degree from Colorado Tech Online."
Vickie feels her courses at Colorado Tech Online not only help in her present career, but also may help her plan for a better future in which she may reach her full potential and achieve her goals. While learning how to balance her courses at Colorado Tech Online with her career and her responsibilities at home, Vickie has learned one of the most important things anyone can learn. "Believe in yourself, take charge of your life and you can be successful." Colorado Tech Online provides the tools for success for thousands of students like Vickie.
Vickie is excited about the many doors of opportunity that Colorado Tech Online might open for her down the road. "Fifteen months after I get my Bachelor's degree, I could have a Master's degree and I never would have thought that possible two years ago. I would recommend Colorado Tech Online to anyone. It is worth every minute and every penny." Thanks to a phone call to a Colorado Tech Online Admissions Advisor, a positive attitude and lots of hard work, Vickie Daniel is well on her way to success!
"Don't put off enrolling through Colorado Tech Online out of fear. Although it is definitely a commitment of time and funds, it is worth every minute and every dollar spent. The time will go by so fast you will not even believe it when graduation rolls around. Earning your degree is not a thing to do; it is an investment in your life and security."
